An important substance that is often lacking in breastfeeding mothers is iron. Iron is important for transporting oxygen to all important organs. During this period, mothers need larger amounts of iron. If the iron intake is not sufficient in nursing mothers, then not enough milk is produced that is necessary for the proper growth and development of the infant.

The quality of breast milk also depends on the iron intake, so in the case of a deficiency, the infant has a greater potential for development of infections because the iron that child receives through milk has a role in building immunity.

The most common symptoms that occur in breastfeeding women who do not get enough iron are pale skin, fatigue, weakness, damage to the dental enamel, cold extremities, hair loss and dizziness.
